Dear Cherished Customers & Friends,
It is with heavy hearts and mixed emotions that we share with you that after ten remarkable years of serving the community, Portland’s oldest remaining and award-winning cider house, Cider Bite will be closing on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
When I created Cider Bite, my vision was to share a wide variety and extensive selection of ciders from the Northwest, around the country, and even from international favorites. With 32 taps and a constantly rotating lineup, we proudly offered one of the largest draft cider selections in the world for several years. Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of creating countless memorable moments—whether toasting to celebrations or simply enjoying the cheer that comes with a shared love for cider.
The decision to close did not come lightly. Like many small businesses, we have faced unprecedented challenges over the past few years—from COVID restrictions, multiple break-ins, and incidents of vandalism, to dramatically rising operating costs and a significant decline in tourism and downtown foot traffic that has not returned to pre-pandemic levels. Our beloved city has struggled to regain its vibrancy and to overcome the barrage of negative national media coverage and public perceptions of safety. With our lease set to expire at the end of October and the landlord requiring higher rent and expenses under a long-term agreement, we were unable to secure an acceptable and sustainable extension that would allow us to continue.
I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who made this journey possible and exciting. The enthusiasm and support from my family, friends, patrons, staff, fellow cider enthusiasts, and talented cider makers fueled my determination and kept me going, even in times of adversity. For this, I am profoundly thankful.
Cider Bite’s last day of service will be Sunday, October 19, 2025. We invite you to stop in during these final weeks to raise a glass and celebrate the memories we’ve created together. Before we bid our final farewell, we will be hosting a couple of special events and selling some of our flight paddles, glassware, décor, and more. Be on the lookout for your chance to own a piece of Cider Bite’s history!
Gift Cards: If you have purchased or received a Cider Bite gift card, you have until October 19, 2025 to redeem your remaining balance. To check your balance, please visit ciderbite.com/giftcards.
